How to find time in your day for your health.
Time......This has and in my view is the biggest excuse for people not starting or achieving their health and fitness goal. The number of times I have heard the excuse "I would love to but I don't have time."
So how do you find time in your day to improve your health and fitness levels? Well, let's break this down.
➡️Of course, you could just get up earlier: now that seems to easy as a solution for making time in your day, but this has worked amazing for some of my clients, simply getting up 45mins earlier than normal to get a workout or walk-in.
➡️Remember that every little bit adds up: People tend to think they need to spend hours working out, but you can achieve health benefits with a 20- to 30-minute workout three or four times a week or do it throughout the day.
➡️Move at every chance: this may sound simple but when we look at how much most of our activity levels have dropped over the last year, making sure we simply move at every chance we get, for example leaving your bottle of water in the kitchen so every time you want a drink you need to get up and walk there.
➡️Do active chores: this may sound silly but you be amazed at how many calories you can burn while cutting the grass, washing the car etc.
➡️Set up your calendar: put your workout in your calendar like a meeting, so you know what time and day you will be training and how long you have.
➡️Replace some TV or social media time: As we know it's very easy to fall into the routine of seating down for the evening in front of the tv for hours and the only time we move is when we go to bed. How about we swap some TV time for a walk or a workout.
➡️Getting your steps in while you are meant to be sitting: What do I mean by this? How much time do you spend on the phone or listening to a meeting? well, do you know you can rack up 1000s of steps very quickly by simply walking around while on the phone or listening to your meetings.
➡️Plan: sounds simple right? you will be amazed how planning your routine will allow you to adapt your day and mind to overcome any time hurdles that might come. The plan is a basic layout of When, What and How for your workouts, food etc.
Of course, I could come up with loads of ways of how to find time to improve your health and fitness levels but by just adjusting a few things in your life you will be surprised how you can add a few routines here and there.
Also, let's face it. Time is never the problem, if you want it that bad you will make time.
So stop making excuses and look at your day and plan where you are going to add that 25 to 45 mins workout.
